International Microorganism Day goes to India with eight outreach events! See below for more details.
IMD @ MICROSPHERE 2022
On 17th September 2022 we joined forces with the International Microbiology Literacy Initiative to organize the second edition of MICROSPHERE 2.0 in India!
Our online event was attended by 350 participants and promoted microbial literacy and celebrated the diversity and wide applications of microbes. We had 7 interactive sessions and a microbiology quiz!

We are glad to inform you that the Department of Biotechnology is organizing an IMD event on the 20th of September 2022! Students can participate in this competition (Online/Offline) and get an appreciation certificate.

IMD @ Madurai Kamaraj University and Online
On 17th September 2022, our event MicCon22 took place at the Madurai Kamaraj University in India.
The overall goal of our event was to address and fill-in knowledge gaps regarding the role of microorganisms and recent developments in biological research. We had 3 scientific sessions and also exciting competitions like creative drawing, petri art, oral presentation, poster presentation, quiz and rangoli! Our event was attended by 300 participants.
We are very happy to get positive feedback from our participants and also this conference increased the outreach of our Department, School and University in and around India.

IMD @ Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences
Our event will celebrate IMD and share the joy of microbes to the society! We have targeted activities for students from schools and universities.

IMD @ Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University
On 20th September 2022 we celebrated IMD with an event at the Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University in India. Our event focused on bringing out the strength, passion and interest of students about microbes and creating more awareness towards the microbes. We welcomed 200 participants!
The event included popular talk, poster presentations, scitoon making, exhibition, lab visit, agar art, working models, games, quiz competition and many more activities in a festive mode all day long! The event ended with winners of various competitions awarded prizes.
IMD @ University of Delhi (WEBINAR)
On 17 September 2022 we organized an online IMD webinar: Microorganisms – Our Invisible Helpers!
This event was organized by the Microbiologists Society, India (MBSI, Delhi Unit) and Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi (India) and was attended by 160 participants. We would like to thank our keynote speaker Prof. Michael Sauer from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna (Austria).
IMD @ Kamaraj Women's College
On 17th September 2022, we held an International Microorganism Day event at the Kamaraj Women's College in India.
Our event who run both virtually and offline, composed of a guest lecture several microbiology-themed competitions such as poster presentations, drawing, essay writing and e-quiz. We were happy to welcome 150 participants and celebrate together!
