The Microbiome Connection: Sustaining Health and Environment

This event, entitled "The Microbiome Connection: Sustaining Health and Environment", will be held in celebration of International Microorganism Day 2024. It aims to delve into the critical roles of microbiomes in maintaining both human health and environmental integrity.

We will learn about different microbiomes, how they benefit our bodies and help maintain ecological balance, and how we can leverage them for better health and environmental practices. We will also discuss potential risks associated with microbiomes and ways to mitigate them.

This event is a great opportunity for everyone to dive deep into the intriguing world of microbiomes and understand how they significantly impact our lives and our planet. Students will compete in seminar and poster presentation categories, with three students from each category receiving a prize award.

Objective: 

  • To increase understanding of microbiomes and their essential roles in human health and environmental sustainability. 

  • To educate students and the public about the diverse functions of microbiomes in our bodies and ecosystems. 

  • To explore the potential risks associated with microbiomes and strategies for mitigating these dangers. 

  • To promote the beneficial use of microbiomes in advancing health and ecological practices.

Opening Ceremony and Introduction to International Microorganism Day 

9:15 AM - 11:15 AM 

Students Seminar Competition on Event’s Theme (10 students will be selected based on their abstract to theme) 

11:15 AM - 12:15 PM 

Hands-on Microbiology Workshop focusing on bacterial culture technique/Yogurt preparation and Students’ Poster Presentation 

(Coffee and snacks will be served) 

12:15 PM – 12:30 PM: Closing Ceremony and Networking
