Microorganisms in the Garden (Técnico, ULisboa)

Microorganisms in the Garden (Técnico, ULisboa) – On September 17, 2019 three Schools of ULisboa commemorated the International Microorganism Day at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) Lisboa, Campus Alameda. The session Microorganisms in the Garden included exhibitions prepared by MSc and PhD students from Técnico, Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária and Instituto Superior de Agronomia, from ULisboa. The Chemistry Garden was occcupied by 13 stands with hands-on scientific experiments and demonstrations, to which correspond 13 short talks performed by PhD students to elucidate the public. The exhibitions were visited by the IST community and by high school students from the Lisbon area.

After lunch, there was a public tasting of a beer produced by LX Brewery using yeasts isolated at Prof. Isabel Sá-Correia’s lab at the Biological Sciences Research Group of Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB), IST. The President of IST, the President of the Scientific Council of IST, the Director of iBB and the Head of the Department of Bioengineering were present and a group photo with the mascots Bak and Saka was taken by 15h.
